Final class of 2007!

Our final class of 2007 will be this Sunday the 16th. Katie will lead a lesson on the Christmas story focusing on Mary.

While we will be on break over the holidays, I hope everyone will be thinking about what topics (or at least sorts of topics) the class will study in the new year. Also, if you have a hankering to teach something, please let me know! I think having a variety of teachers this fall has improved our class as a whole. Post your ideas here or talk to me the next time you see me.

Welcome, Dave D!

Today at the session meeting the congregation voted to hire a new associate pastor, filling a position that has been open about a year.  While the selection process didn’t seem especially speedy as we went through it, I thought the hiring committee did a good job of explaining their thoroughness before they settled on Dave, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear that he will start in January.

Dave’s hire should also have particular significance for us as a class, as he will be heading up adult education.  It’s my hope that he will play an active role in improving all of the Sunday School classes at Blacknall.

Christmas Dinner

I’ve mentioned this to a few folks, but lets plan on having a Christmas Dinner together this Sunday before Carols and Cocoa.  We can meet at Elmo’s Diner at 5:15, then walk over to the church at 6:30 for the fun.  Call me (Matt Wallace) at 491-0759 if interested or post a comment here.  See you Sunday!

Christmas Supper Club — Dec. 15th
