As most know, Dave Dunderdale will be leading a unit on marriage starting either the last week in May or first week in June. At least one person has mentioned to me that this unit could be very popular – as in, to the point of overflowing our room. I have heard various people express their enthusiasm, but I would be curious as to whether people think we are going to get a big draw, because if we are, then I need to start planning now as for where we will meet. I would certainly love for us to have some more people try our class on acccount of this unit, and want to plan accordingly.

Marriage Unit — Big Draw?
April 30, 2008Sunday Lunch
April 19, 2008I have originally posted that we would meet at the West household after church this Sunday for lunch, but that’s not the case – my bad! I think it will be the 27th perhaps? Keep an ear out.
Sunday – April 20
April 18, 2008This Sunday we will talk about the unity of the Body of Christ as we read Ephesians 4:1-16. If you get a chance, please read the selection. I have enjoyed our discussions so far, especially how it parallels the sermon series on Colossians.

Adopt-a-new-person
April 6, 2008You may have heard in the monthly bulletin, or else in church today, that Blacknall is making a concerted effort to match up new attendees with those of us who know their way around. I think this is a great idea and would encourage our members to participate. If there’s interest, we could then all have a potluck or go to a Bulls game or something — this way, our new folks would not only meet each of us, but also one another.
If you’re interested in “adopting” a new person, I believe you should contact Margaret Frothingham, but you can also email me (or leave a comment here) and I will pass it along.
Things to do with a new person:
1) Speak with them about their goals in “getting connected” and then make a recommendation for a i) sunday class and/or ii) small group.
2) Eat lunch with them after church one sunday.
3) take pictures of yourselves together and then make a collage of the photos, labelled “BFF.” Just kidding.
4) Meet at the farmer’s market on saturday morning (i always run into lots of Blacknall people there).

Ephesians – chapter 2
April 2, 2008We had a great discussion this past Sunday about our identity as a Christian as found in Ephesians 1:3-14. I think this passage became one of my favorites. It should excite you to read it and reassure yourself of who you are in Christ. This next week we will be discussing chapter 2. This is Paul’s word to the Gentile Christians assuring them that they are part of the house of God; that all Christians, regardless of from where they come, are part of the One Body.
I hope everyone plans on attending! See you Sunday,
Matt
