Syllabus for the coming year

September 7, 2008

We celebrate the wide range of personalities and backgrounds in our class.  In designing a curriculum for the upcoming year, we examined a list of past and suggested topics.  They fall into 4 basic categories:

1) study of scripture (“Ephesians”)

2) spiritual formation/education (“Basics of Islam”)

3) biographical Bible study (“Elijah”)

4) practical application (“Marriage”)

In 2008-09, we will cycle through all four groups, spending a few weeks in one type of study and moving on.  We hope this format will hold the interest of our diverse folks and allow many to showcase their leadership gifts! (hint, hint)  If you are willing to facilite or teach during a later unit, please let me know.

Bagels and Coffee

September 1, 2008

This Sunday we’ll all get together for some general social time during the Sunday school hour, accompanied by some bagels and coffee.  This will hopefully give us all a chance to reconnect with one another after our summer unit, and also to solidify names with those new faces who have joined us in recent months.  Meet in room 402, where we have been all summer; if we end up moving to the social hall or something (I’m not sure what the food and drink policy is for those rooms) I’ll post a note.

Also, I will briefly discuss the units we have planned for this next Sunday School year, so that we can all get excited about them!  We have tried to do some longer-term planning, and have the units 90% set for between now and next summer.
